Design Guide

Follow these tips to get the most out of your My Living Card

Face Photo
Audio Clip (optional)
Reference Photos (optional)

Take a front-view face photo. The idea here is to capture a front-facing picture of your subject so we can create a 3D cartoon from it.

  • Face angle straight, try not to tilt you or your subject's head.
  • Try to set up even lighting (no hard shadows).
  • Pull any hair back from the forehead (place a band on the hair if that helps).
  • NO exaggerated expressions (we'll handle that!).
  • Make sure you or your subject's mouth is closed.
  • Open your eyes of course. No glasses or spectacles.
  • DON'T smile! We know it's sometimes difficult, but facial expressions will be created on our end once we have a base face to work from.
  • Today's camera phones can give very professional results. So you can use that or a regular DSLR camera.
  • If you're shooting a selfie, try to extend your arm out enough so you can get a straight-on view of your face.
  • Try to capture a 4k image (4,096 pixels). At minimum it should be 1,000 pixels. The lower the resolution, the less detail we'll be able to capture and the final face may be a bit soft and not look enough like your photo.
  • PNG or JPG files are accepted.

Capture up to 30 seconds of voice-based audio. This step is optional, but it can really bring your card to life.
  • Try to record in a quiet environment.
  • You can use your phone's audio recording features, a webcam. However, we recommend using some kind of microphone setup for best quality.
  • We accept WAV and MP3 formats
  • You can record up to 30 seconds of audio
  • Audio can be for the character on the screen (lip sync), or for a voiceover effect (you can tell us what you prefer in your product portal).
  • For Living Cards with multiple characters, please provide a separate audio file for each character.

This step is easy (and optional). Provide a few "natural" photos of your subject. We'll use these to match the hair style and things like that.

Side views, hair in its normal state, photos showing any special features you want to highlight in the caricature.

Fill out the step-by-step form in your customer portal, uploading your assets, adding custom text and setting various options.

Once this step is complete, we'll start working on your custom animated greeting.
