Everything you need to know about My Living Cards

Design Questions

The most vital part of the process is to be sure to provide us a high resolution and high-quality image that we can work from. Please read the Design Guide for tips on taking your photo.

That being said, it is a cartoon after all, so it will be a stylized version of the photo.

If you want your own voice audio but don't want the cartoon to actually speak it (perhaps you're wishing a relative a happy birthday and it's their face on the card but you giving them a personal message), we have a button for that during the checkout process.

We allow for around 30 seconds of audio. You can do less. We shorten or lengthen the middle of the video to make sure it fits nicely.

You bet! We're just getting started. We'll be rolling out many new card designs as well as special features (like multiple characters in one animated card). Stay tuned!

The First Amendment for creative works offers some protections for this. Creative work is entitled to First Amendment protection if: (1) the use of the famous persona is artistically relevant to the work; and (2) the use is not misleading as to the source or content of the work.

Famous likenesses can be used as parody, commentary and educational purposes. An animated cartoon greeting card sent to friends shouldn't be a problem.

You cannot, however use audio that you don't own the rights to. Though, political speeches are copyright-free.

The watermark protects us from a customer reselling their custom animated card. This can create tricky copyright issues that we want to avoid for everyone's sake.

Fear not, the watermark is very light and will not detract from the experience.

Yes. When you order, you have many options to customize your card. This includes choosing man/woman/boy/girl/baby. On many cards, you can also choose clothing style and/or color.

Service Questions

Sorry, that's not allowed. A myriad of legal issues would arise if we allowed that. Also, as professional animators in the industry, we do work-for-hire for that kind of thing (and charge a lot more!).

Yes! You have a download option on your custom page that we make for you.

You can also decide whether your page visitors can download the card or not.

Your personal My Living Card page stays up for three months from the time it goes live. We're currently looking into options to extend that time limit for a small fee.

Not a problem. Once you purchase your custom My Living Card, you will have access to a special page where you can send us the required material to start on your card. There is no time limit for this.

Turn-around time ranges from 1-5 days. We try to get cards done within 24 hours of your order.

Sorry, it's a lot of work to create your custom card. We can't offer a refund for work that has been finished.

If you end up changing your mind before we start production on your card, we will happily refund your money.

You can share your My Living Card on social media (or youTube, etc). The only thing you can't do is sell the video. We pay licensing for certain elements (sound, music, fonts, some graphic elements) on a per-project license and the rights don't extend to reselling by a third party (i.e. you).
